THE CITY TALK

YOU LIVE IN PARIS, CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PARIS IN A FEW WORDS?
My Paris is Montmartre. I really love it, it is like a small village, a lot of little streets with few cars. As I told you, I have a dog and over there I can go everywhere with him. Montmartre is very dog friendly. Also, even if it is obviously full of tourists, I think Montmartre’s soul is still remaining.

DO YOU THINK IT IS ONE OF THE LAST NEIGHBORHOODS IN PARIS THAT STILL HAS THAT?
I think Paris in general, thanks to his architecture and his history, still got soul. Every time I travel, when I come back to Paris, I’m thinking: «fuck Paris is so beautiful». And yes Montmartre is one of the last neighborhoods that represent the old Paris. If you get passed the Sacré-Coeur basilica and all the tourists, you can still find the true Montmartre’s characters.

WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL AT HOME THERE?
The relationship with the people. It feels less Parisian than in other neighborhoods. You can talk with the guy who sells fruits, when you pass by the flower shop you stop to say hello… Those little things.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO WHEN YOU GO OUT IN PARIS?
Eating! I love Le Potager du Père Thierry, it has a very nice atmosphere, with organic products and great vegetables recipes. Before I was a vegetarian, I would go to La Vache et le Cuisinier, delicious food there!

WHAT IS THE BEST PLACE TO SEAT AND WATCH PARISIANS PASS BY?
On the Seine’s riverside. You see the people on the bateaux-mouches, it is very charming. You can also see all the beautiful bridges.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CULTURAL PLACE?
The Orsay museum, I love the Impressionists.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO-GIFT TO BUY IN PARIS FOR YOUR FRIENDS FROM ABROAD?
People will always love you if you offer them a good bottle of wine. And it’s always nice because you get to share it with them (laughs).

WHAT IS THE TOURISTIC THING THAT YOU LIKE TO DO?
I don’t like touristic things but if I must say one it would be the Sacré-Coeur basilica.

YOU SAID THAT YOU LOVED TO READ, WHERE IS THE BEST BOOKSTORE IN PARIS?
I love second hand bookshops. I feel the energy of the people who read the books before me.

IS THERE ONE BOOKSHOP IN PARTICULAR?
I like one close to Bonne Nouvelle but I can’t remember the name!

TELL ME SOMETHING TRUE ABOUT PARIS?
The cliché that Paris is romantic is definitively true.

TELL ME SOMETHING FALSE ABOUT PARIS?
People think it is always raining in Paris !

WHERE WOULD YOU LIVE IF NOT IN PARIS?
In the wild. Probably in Ariège. Or in Brazil.
